Mithu Chanrai Homeless Project
WORKING TOWARDS ENDING HOMELESSNESS IN THE UK
"More and more people are being forced into homelessness. Across Great Britain homelessness could rise by a third in the next 12 months" - Crisis (February 2nd 2023)
VISION
Living and working in London, Mahesh Khilnani was concerned about the homelessness situation he witnessed day to day in central London, where he has called home for most of his life. Coming from both a hospitality and philanthropic background, Mahesh decided to set up a community project whereby high-end hospitality venues could raise money for charities working within the homelessness sector. With the help of his uncle Subodh Chanrai, Mahesh decided that his family would match the donations raised to have a greater impact, and thus this philanthropy project was born.

Both Subodh and Mahesh have previously worked on similar ventures in Nigeria and India. They were fortunate enough to meet and be influenced by Mother Teresa from a young age; through Subodh’s father (Mahesh’s grandfather), Mithu Chanrai. Charity-based work has always been something the family is very passionate about, which is why they felt they need to help people experiencing homelessness in the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.
